Coupled Semiconductor Lasers with Delayed Optical Feedback: Chaos Synchronization and its Application

Abstract

We present a detailed characterization of the synchronization behavior of unidirectionally coupled semiconductor lasers, emitting chaotically due to delayed optical feedback. We investigate the influence of major system parameters and particularly concentrate on the cavity phase. We discuss the corresponding synchronization scenario and show how to harness it for communication with enhanced privacy.
