Abstract

In this work, we present the transmission spectra of periodic arrays of curved coupled optical waveguides (CCOWs) (Figs. 1a, 1b). Using a conformal mapping, we map the 2-D wave equation for light propagation in CCOWs onto the Schrödinger equation of an electron in a periodic potential and a time-dependent electric field. In this mapping, the propagation distance, v, in the CCOWs plays the role of time in the electron system, while the reciprocal of the product of the optical wavelength, λ, and the waveguides’ curvature, R(v), plays the role of the electric field.
