Generation and distribution of quantum entanglement in the telecom band with standard optical fiber

Abstract

Polarization entangled photon pairs are produced by pumping the nonlinear-fiber Sagnac interferometer with orthogonally-polarized pulses. Parametrically scattered signal-idler photons yield biphoton interference with visibility greater than 95% in coincidence. When signal-idler photon pairs are physically propagated over 25 km of standard optical fiber, the quantum correlation is preserved.
