Status and Grand Challenges in Achieving True Color, High Contrast, Large Size, High Definition Displays

Abstract

We summarize the state-of-the-art in achieving full color, large-size high definition television displays with fully warrantied lifetimes and at low-cost. Grand challenges that exist in present display technologies, including realizing sufficient brightness, color quality, contrast, and manufacturability will be presented.
