Abstract

A generic model is derived for the lattice dynamic of coupled microlaser arrays, including near neighbor interactions, both passive (cross-cavity dielectric and mirror interference) and active (cross-cavity stimulated gain). The interaction phase among sites exhibits spontaneous long range ”crystallization” into periodic Bloch states of laser ”macro-atoms”. Collective lattice oscillations, evanescent wave dispersion and self-excitation of ”photonic sound” waves are observed and studied.
