Abstract
Quasi-phase matching is an appealing solution whenever birefringence phase-matching cannot be achieved, resulting from periodical phase synchronization of the fundamental and harmonic beams due to periodic alternation of the nonlinear. Several techniques for photo-orientation to define alternate domains have been explored [1-4]. The field of photo-isomerisation presents the advantages of full optical control, which can be implemented in a variety of configurations from localized photo-depoling of uniformously electrically poled samples to all optical poling of nonlinear domains in initially centrosymmetric structures.
