Abstract
Nonlinear nanolayered polymer films with a modulation in the complex nonlinear refractive index normal to the surface were fabricated using new polymers with large absorptive nonlinearities. The effective nonlinear absorption increased, relative to a monolithic control, at wavelengths approaching the band gap.
