Abstract
Mode locked fiber lasers have a variety of applications including range-resolved Doppler imaging [1]. All-semiconductor, nonlinear optical mirrors can be used for passive mode locking of fiber lasers [2]. The implementation is simple, the mirrors are compact, and the operation is robust. Here we describe fabrication of nonlinear mirrors for mode locking of neodymium and ytterbium-doped fiber lasers.
