Abstract

A new type of bandpass filter is presented. This filter employs frustrated total internal reflection near a resonant periodic waveguide structure. The sideband transmittance can be controlled by changing the thickness of the frustrating layer. Numerical results indicate that high efficiency, narrow linewidth, and low sideband transmittance can be achieved.
