Abstract

Ethylene monitoring is important in atmospheric chemistry, medical diagnostics, biology and agronomy. A tunable quantum cascade laser spectrometer has been developed to measure ethylene concentrations in the 10 µm region. The laser is thermoelectrically cooled and operates in a pulsed mode. A sensitivity of 5ppm with a 1 meter path length has been demonstrated.
