Power Handling Requirements for Beam Steering Metasurfaces in Ranging and Communications

Abstract

We theoretically investigate power handling capabilities of gate-tunable conducting oxide metasurfaces, which are illuminated with high-power laser beams. We determine irradiances a metasurface should be able to withstand to be used in practical applications.
