High Power Fiber Lasers for Defense Applications

Abstract

Fiber lasers are ideal for many defense applications, ranging from tactical and long-range directed energy applications to LIDAR to free-space communications. In this talk, we focus on the directed energy applications of fiber lasers, and the types of fiber lasers under development for use in these applications. Broadband single-mode and multimode lasers, as well as narrow-line, high power amplifiers for beam combining are discussed.
