Minimizing Differential Modal Gain in Cladding Pumped MM-EDFAs for Mode Division Multiplexing in C and L Bands

Abstract

We propose the cladding pumped four-mode-group and six-mode-group EDFA designs for mode division multiplexing transmission systems that provide less than 1 dB Differential Modal Gain (DMG) across the wavelength range of 1530-1600nm.
