Abstract

Flat-top beam is demonstrated from a 50µm-core Yb-doped leakage channel fiber by using an ytterbium-doped glass with an index depression of ~2×10-4 at the core center. The flat intensity distribution leads to an effective mode area of ~1880µm2, which is more than 50% increase compared with a regular fiber with the same core diameter.
