XFEL based on tapered RF undulators driven by laser plasma wakefield accelerator

Abstract

Microwave undulators are proposed for FELs due to large beam aperture and short undulator period. The development of tapered microwave undulator for EUV FEL is presented. Tapering allows to achieve an unprecedented 10% conversion efficiency.
