Large-scale e-mentoring: outcomes and lessons learned

Abstract

MentorNet (www.MentorNet.net), the e-mentoring network for women in engineering and science, matches undergraduate and graduate students with professionals working in industry for year-long, structured, one-on-one, email-based mentoring relationships, to advance professional development and encourage retention. Collaborating with higher education, industry, government, and professional societies, MentorNet paired nearly 20,000 individuals 1998-2002.
