Open Access Open Access

Abstract

The Optics Project on the Web (WebTOP) is a Web-based 3D interactive computer graphics system that simulates wave and optical phenomena. Its purpose is to help teachers teach and students learn about waves and optics. The current version includes sixteen modules: Waves, Lenses, The Eye, Reflection and Refraction/Vectorial, Reflection and Refraction/Waves Two Media, Reflection and Refraction/Waves Three Media, Polarization, Michelson Interferometer, Fabry-Perot Etalon, Fraunhofer N-Slit, Transmission Grating, Rayleigh Resolution, Fresnel Single Slit, Fresnel Circular Aperture, Scattering, and Lasers. The figure below shows the Reflection and Refraction/Waves Three Media module simulating frustrated total internal reflection.
