Rigorous modal analysis of optical resonators

Abstract

An efficient, rigorous and intuitive modal formalism (valid for lossy and dispersive media) to model light interaction with resonant metallic nanostructures is proposed. It is the analogue of the modal waveguide formalism for electromagnetic resonators.
