Stabilization of frequency combs using third order dispersion

Abstract

Frequency combs (FCs) can be defined as sets of equidistant spectral lines associated with trains of evenly spaced, very short pulses. They can be used to measure light frequencies and time intervals more easily than ever before, opening a large avenue for applications. Due to strong duality between FCs and temporal cavity solitons (CSs) [1] we are able to analyze the behavior of FCs through the dynamics of CSs. Using this correspondence we will study the effect of third-order chromatic dispersion (TOD) on FCs. For that we use the Lugiato-Lefever equation (LLE) describing temporal CSs in fiber resonators.
