Abstract
One important class of frequency combs are generated merely by electro-optic modulation (EOM) of a CW laser’s phase and intensity with a microwave source [1, 2]. The 10’s of GHz repetition frequency, as well as the continuous tunability of repetition rate and offset frequency, make them attractive for arbitrary waveform generation, optical communication, and metrology [3]. However, the relative low bandwidth (~1 ps pulses), and the multiplication of RF repetition rate noise are long-standing challenges for many applications.
