Abstract

In recent years, transformation optics [1,2] has led to the design of a number of optical devices with exceptional properties, such as invisibility cloaks, beam transformers, electromagnetic concentrators, and subwavelength cavities [1-4]. These devices are derived from three-dimensional spatial coordinate transformations. However, it is shown that transformation optics can be applied to the four-dimensional metrics known from general relativity [5].
