Coupling single molecules to microcavities

Abstract

Single molecules at cryogenic temperatures have stimulated growing interest in the last years as solid-state quantum systems, offering a convenient platform for quantum optical tasks such as generation of lifetime-limited single photons. The existence of fast-decaying vibrational levels, however, opens incoherent fluorescence channels. We aim to minimize this loss mechanism, by coupling the zero phonon line to the resonance of a microcavity.
