Challenges of Next Generation Optical Transport Network Development

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

Full-text article is not available. Optical transport networks are one of the key systems that enable cost efficiency of the Internet. Flexible optical networks are discussed for a while as the next generation of optical systems besides the simple increase of capacity. Examples of these functionalities are resiliency, capacity adaptation and dynamic switching. The conditions to benefit from these functionalities in the context of NGN will be discussed.
