Feed-Forward Optical Domain Carrier Recovery from High Baud Rate PSK Signals using Relatively Slow Electronics

Abstract

Carrier recovery based on four-wave mixing and intra-band RF frequency division is evaluated in real time. We demonstrate <1Hz frequency tracking of a semiconductor laser and carrier extraction from a dispersed 20 Gbit/s BPSK signal.
