Abstract

We investigate a polarization sensitivity depending on waveguide circuit shapes in a silica-based PLC. Then we propose a highly polarization maintaining circuit with straight and S-shaped bending waveguides. A small polarization axis rotation < 1 degree was achieved in a fabricated dual PBS-integrated coherent mixer for coherent receivers.
