Low Cost Tunable Receivers for Wavelength Agile PONs

Abstract

Tunable receivers are a cost-effective means of increasing downstream bandwidth in legacy and next-generation colorless PONs, particularly those utilizing TWDM approaches. We review existing technologies and candidates for commercialization, and present guidelines for system design.
