Abstract
Adaptive finite-impulse-response (FIR) filters in digital coherent receivers can achieve polarization demultiplexing, compensation for chromatic dispersion (CD) and polarization-mode dispersion (PMD), and clock recovery all at once. This talk describes the physics behind such a variety of FIR-filter-based signal processing.
