Abstract

WSDM is an attractive scheme to implement low cost PONs because of the simple, tunable upstream laser. The impact of the WS filter loss on the receiver sensitivity at the OLT side is investigated and found to be recoverable by a SOA. Without SOA the budget fulfills the basic requirements for NGPON2 and with SOA even an extended budget is supported.
