Abstract
We compare elastic optical networks with multi-flow optical transponders (MF-OTPs) to networks with fixed-rate and adaptive-rate transponders in terms of spectrum efficiency (SE) and necessary number of transponders. Our evaluation shows that the elastic optical network with MF-OTPs achieves high SE and low transponder numbers.
