Abstract

We demonstrate the first field-trial of a 20 Gb/s/λ-based long-reach NG-PON over 100 km installed fibers. With an extended loss budget of 70.6 dB, a large access span loss of 30.6 dB fully supporting the legacy PON ODN was bi-directionally achieved by using a novel 20 Gb/s coherent SC-FDE downlink and 10G-EPON burst-mode 3R uplink via optical PON repeaters.
