Abstract

A differential modal group delay (DMD) free transmission line composed of two kinds of two-mode optical fibres (TMFs) is proposed. These have graded-index (GI) cores with and without trench and their DMDs and DMD slopes are the opposite sign each other. Fabricated TMFs have large Aeff of over 150 μm2 for LP01 mode and the DMD of the transmission line is within |3|ps/km at C+L-band.
