Abstract

We propose using low bandwidth coherent receivers for distributed optical performance monitoring. We demonstrate OSNR monitoring of a 40-Gbit/s polarization multiplexed CO-OFDM signal with a 0.8-GHz receiver using both data aided and blind approaches.
