Multi-core Few-mode optical fibers with large Aeff

Abstract

We designed and fabricated 7-core and 19-core few-mode fibers with large Aeff of 170μm2 (LP01 mode). We discuss the potentials and required challenges of realizing large-Aeff multi-core few-mode fibers taking intra-core and inter-core cross-talk into account.
