Resonant grating filters with diffractive thin-film layers realized with genetic algorithms

Abstract

Bandpass and bandstop filters based on guided-mode resonances in waveguide-grating structures are designed using genetic algorithms. Calculated examples show that efficient filters with narrow linewidths and low sidebands can be achieved with few layers.
