Polymorphic beams: light curves beyond “perfect” vortices

Abstract

We present properties and applications of the recently introduced polymorphic beams, which are focused into arbitrary 2D diffraction-limited light curves with phase gradient prescribed independently on their form and size. The beams are easily implemented using computer generated holograms.
