Abstract

Pixelated spatial light modulators are powerful devices that can be used for a multitude of applications within optics. Especially non-imaging holographic applications are of considerable interest for future products. After a short general overview we concentrate on showing some applications in the direction of 3D confocal microscopy. We show how multiplexed holograms can be employed to detect the local depth of a specimen using astigmatic and defocused sub-holograms.
