Abstract

Several methods of increasing the speed and simplicity of the computation of off-axis transmission holograms are presented. An order of magnitude speed increase is obtained through the use of a precomputed look-up table (LUT) containing a large array of elemental fringe corresponding to point source contributions from each of the possible locations in image space. But the greatest drawback to the LUT method is the enormous size of the table. In this paper, the Reduced Look-up Table (RLUT) is proposed to increase the speed of CGH generation and to reduce the space required to store a precomputed table. From some simulation result, the proposed method is 48.8 times faster than the traditional method. And the memory size used in proposed RLUT method is 650 times smaller than the memory size used in LUT method.
