Generalized Hanbury Brown-Twiss effect for Stokes parameters

Abstract

We show that both the Hanbury Brown-Twiss effect and scintillation are just two manifestations of a wider class of Stokes fluctuation correlations. These correlations are not independent, but satisfy certain sum rules. This leads to the possibility of scintillation squeezing.
