Abstract
Image sensors have become ubiquitous due to their integration into smart phones, laptops and more recently wearable devices. However, the majority of these devices tend to utilize camera sensors in traditional usages like photography and video communication. Recently, we have seen a rise in context aware applications of ambient sensing utilizing a diverse set of sensors like audio, wireless, and bio-sensors. In this talk, I will describe new usages of ambient sensing across a multitude of sensors, and highlight some of the constraints and challenges that we and other researchers have encountered in trying to use image sensors for such usages.
