Mode-locked dark-pulse Kerr combs in normal-dispersion AlGaAs-on-insulator microresonators

Abstract

We demonstrate dark-pulse Kerr combs from a high-Q Al0.2Ga0.8As-on-insulator microresonator with normal dispersion. Low-noise combs are achieved for the first time at room temperature in this efficient platform, with low pump power of <5 mW.
