Telecommunication-Compatible Photoconductive Terahertz Detection without Using a Short-Carrier-Lifetime Substrate

Abstract

We present a telecommunication-compatible photoconductive detector, which uses plasmonic nanostructures to provide ultrafast carrier transit times for high-performance terahertz detection (>110 dB signal-to-noise-ratio and >3 THz bandwidth), eliminating the need for short- carrier-lifetime substrates for the first time.
