Light–to–heat conversion by optical absorption in a Si microring resonator

Abstract

An efficient light–to–heat conversion by optical absorption in a silicon microring resonator was demonstrated. We measured a wavelength shift due to thermo-optic effect and >300-K raise in temperature with light of 6.8 mW.
