Real-time detection of scaling on reverse osmosis membranes with Raman spectroscopy

Abstract

We demonstrate real-time, local detection of the onset of scaling, in addition to chemical quantification, in a reverse osmosis separation system using confocal Raman microscopy. The results show consistent scalant detection.
