Fast adiabatic mode evolution based on geometry-induced suppression of nearest-mode crosstalk

Abstract

A new degree of freedom in the design of adiabatic mode-evolution structures allows dramatic length reduction while maintaining the characteristic large bandwidth and insensitivity, leading to a 10× shorter ultrabroadband, low-loss 2×2 3dB coupler design.
