Utilization of self-absorption for high resolution laser induced breakdown spectroscopy

Abstract

The shock wave created by a high energy UV filament is sufficient to create a low density region in the ablation plume enabling higher resolution in laser induced breakdown spectroscopy. Isotopic selectivity is demonstrated.
