Ultrafast Quantum Dot VECSELs: Record Performance Depending on Growth Techniques

Abstract

We present the extended potentialities of quantum dots (QDs) as active media for semiconductor disk lasers. Self-assembled QDs efficiently reach the shortest sub-200-fs pulses, while submonolayer QDs deliver record output powers in continuous wave operation.
