Abstract

Current EO-PLLs for laser chirp modulation require large, lossy delay waveguides in an MZI to detect chirp slope. EO-PLLs, and electronic control loops generally, are dominantly digital. A new analog EO-PLL breaks the trade-off between chirp bandwidth and MZI delay, reducing area and loss by 10×.
