Direct inscription of waveguides in bulk glass for the photoexcitation of on-surface nanoparticles

Abstract

A novel method allowing for the inscription of optical waveguides up to the surface of almost any transparent material is introduced. The resulting waveguides are employed for the photoexcitation of fluorescence-emitting nanostructures.
