Abstract

Axial constant magnetic field produces 69-fold increase of ablation-crater depth on silicon surface ablated by ultraviolet nanosecond laser pulses. Analysis of potential mechanisms suggests strong combined effects from magneto-absorption and propagation through magnetized ablation plasma.
