Voltage-Controlled Oscillators Based on Optically Injected Semiconductor Lasers

Abstract

A microwave voltage-controlled oscillator is demonstrated using an optically injected semiconductor laser enabling tuning from 5–15 GHz in 10 ns with a voltage change of 600 mV; a tuning rate of 1 × 1018 Hz/sec.
